Jura C60 vs D6: Differences

Out of all the features that the Jura C60 and the Jura D6 have to offer, the Jura D6 sounds like a more feature-rich and durable choice. That is why it wins against the Jura C60, despite its low price, 3 – 1.

1. Espresso Flavor

The Winner: It’s A Tie

Coffee Brewing Technology

Between the Jura C60 and D6, you have to pick from C60’s Intelligent Pre-Brew Aroma System and D6’s IPBAS and PEP (Pulse Extraction Process) technology. And here’s why both work for espresso lovers.

The IPBAS technology allows the freshly ground coffee to pre-brew before the actual process of brewing starts. The hot water passes through the grounds, little by little, and not altogether which improves the way flavour is pulled out of the coffee.

The PEP, on the other hand, uses a similar technique for pulling and extracting maximum flavour out of the ground coffee. It pushes hot water through the coffee to slowly, but intensely, extracts flavour, texture, and aroma.

Without these technologies, you’d might as well pour hot water through the grounds to get an over-saturated or under-extraction espresso taste which is not ideal! This gives the Jura D6 an edge over C60.

Coffee Type

The Jura C60 comes with a steel conical burr grinder and a by-pass doser for ground coffee. The Jura D6, on the other hand, does not. It only features the steel conical burr grinder and no by-pass doser for pre-ground coffee.

This puts the Jura C60 in the lead because you can use two varieties of coffees in the same machine. Coffee beans and pre-ground coffee for a decaf blend.

2. Milk System

The Winner: Jura D6

Jura D6 Milk System
Jura D6 Milk System

The milk system between the Jura C60 and Jura D6 is slightly different when you see it. For starters, the milk spout on the C60 is placed a few inches away from the coffee spout. But on the Jura D6, they are set up right next to each other.

This means that you only need to place the espresso under the coffee spout for the steamed milk also to pour directly into the cup. Less time wasted to move the cup to the other end of the drip tray.

Both espresso makers come with Fine Foam technology to create barista-style milk foam in a single touch. This includes producing milk foam not only one milk espresso drink but a few such as latte, cappuccino, and latte macchiato.

If you don’t want foam, you can simply heat the milk without creating a dense foam. Both Jura machines let you do this quickly and easily. Only with a slight alteration in the location of the milk spout between the two models.

3. Maintenance

The Winner: Jura D6

The Jura D6 comes with a wireless connectivity app which makes it easier to use, customize, and maintain. The C60 features no such wireless app. Preparing new drinks via this smartphone app is a lot easier. And it’s more in keeping with modern technology and how people love to use newer kitchen gadgets.

This means you can set and customize the coffee strength and temperature easily just with your phone. The machine has 7 different coffee specialities that you can choose from with your phone and via the control panel.

While the rest of the features between the Jura C60 and D6 remain the same, having wireless connectivity makes things easier to keep track of. Don’t you think?

Jura C60 vs D6: Similarities

1. Single Thermoblock Heating System

Both machines make use of a single Thermoblock heating element. This boiler system may not be as fast and dynamic as a dual boiler but it’s intuitive and efficient nevertheless. The machines heat up fairly quickly and maintain higher temperatures for espresso and milk for a consistent period of time. So your second espresso cup won’t be less hot or watery!

2. Capacity

The Jura C60 has a 200g bean hopper capacity and a 64-ounce water tank. The Jura D6 features the same 64-ounce water reservoir and 200g bean hopper.

Both espresso makers also have the same size dimensions – 11 inches width, 16.1 – 16.3 inches depth, and 13.6 inches height.

The difference in their weight, however, is hardly of 0.5kgs so that’s not a problem at all.

3. Programmable Features

You can adjust the coffee strength by 4 levels, the brewing temperature by 2 levels, and adjust the coffee volume easily and quickly. This applies to Jura C60 and D6. This level of customization is perfect for a beginner as well as a coffee snob. You can intuitively adjust the intensity of the coffee and how much serving you want in each cup. Both machines also offer the same dosage and the ability to brew 1-2 cups of espresso at a time.
