After testing both models to see which between Jura We6 vs We8 is the better espresso machine, I have found the ultimate winner: Jura We8.
Jura We8 is a well-rounded machine with which we can make classic espressos and milk-based recipes. The flavor is robust and nuanced, which is what we all look for in a good mid-range machine. The milk foam is velvety and has a good mouthfeel. I recommend this model for home use.
The runner-up We6 has a big water tank and stable operation. For me, this model is fantastic in pulling flavorful and strong espressos. But it doesn’t have as many convenient features as Jura We8, which is why it loses in this debate.

Jura We6 vs We8: Differences
Jura We8 wins 3 to 1 against Jura We6 thanks to its stable operation, robust espresso flavor, and convenient one-touch milk-based beverages like flat white or latte macchiato. Overall, from my experience, We8’s performance is much better than We6.
Coffee Flavor: Jura We8
+Grinder
Both machines do an excellent job at delivering even coffee ground in terms of grinders. You can adjust the grinders’ settings between 6 levels from fine to coarse, depending on the intensity of coffee that you prefer. The finer the ground, the stronger the coffee.
Since I prefer strong coffee and the espresso flavor that We8 and We6 can extract is pretty robust already, I usually set the grinders at level 4 to avoid bringing out too much bitterness from coffee beans.
So far, I haven’t encountered any problem with the grinders. They haven’t jammed once since I first got them, roughly 2 months ago with We8 and 1 month with We6.
+Dosing + tamping
Both models use the same dose, which varies from 5 to 16 g. We can adjust the dose to achieve more mellow or stronger coffee. This depends entirely on the preference of each user. And since Jura We8 and We6 are super-automatic, I don’t have to do anything manually, from dosing to tamping.
When I compare the espresso flavor that these machines can deliver, I always set the grinder at the same level, and I use the same dose, which is around 14 grams (this is adjustable). Even though the set-up is the same, I notice that We8 delivers a more robust coffee flavor while maintaining the same nuanced and aromatic quality. But overall, both We8 and We6 do a good job when it comes to espresso.
+Heating system
Both machines use 1 Thermoblock to heat the water, but, from my experience, We6 doesn’t take as much time to achieve a high coffee temperature. With We6, you should let the machine prime 3-5 minutes beforehand. With We8, it’s best to leave it on for about 10 minutes prior to brewing time.
Keep in mind that I don’t say that one machine brews hotter coffee than the other, it’s just that We6 takes slightly lesser time to heat up.
Utilities: Jura We8
Jura We8 wins this round without having to break a sweat. Thanks to its elaborate system of one-touch beverages, you can easily brew a cup of latte macchiato, flat white, espresso or cappuccino, among other recipes.
With We6, there are very few one-touch recipes, and it is not for users who enjoy milk-based drinks. So I highly recommend Jura We8 to users who love flat white or latte.
Milk system: Jura We8
We6 doesn’t have a milk system, so there isn’t anything for me to comment on. If you already own a separate frother, We6 is a good choice. But if you don’t and you want a convenient espresso maker, Jura We8 is a much better option.
Jura We8 can automatically froth creamy and thick milk foam. That’s why I believe that this model is perfect for making lattes and flat whites. As for cappuccino, we need drier foam to achieve the ideal texture. But, this is not We8’s strength. As I have said, We8 delivers milk foam that belongs to the creamy and “damp” side.
Cleaning & Maintain: Tie
These machines keep themselves clean by rinsing the dispenser automatically when we turn the devices on or off. This step makes sure that bacteria and mold can’t develop and infect the whole brewing system.
We have to buy special cleaning products like tablets or liquid cleansers to deep clean these machines. All we have to do is pour the cleaning products in the water tank or through the pre-ground slot. They will clean from the grinder to the nozzle automatically.
Jura We6 vs We8: Similarities
Here are some basic similarities between the two products. Make sure that you check them out.
Automatic filter recognition
Both Jura We8 and We6 can automatically recognize the CLEARYL Pro Smart filter, which means you won’t have to set up anything or connect the filter to the machine. Most other filters require this extra step, and many users don’t get the hang of it.
Consequently, they waste the filters away while scale keeps developing in the water tank. You can avoid it completely with automatic recognition, which only works with the CLEARYL Pro Smart.
Big water tank
These machines have a similar water reservoir capacity which is about 100oz. The size makes them ideal for home use. I don’t recommend these models for commercial purposes since the recommended daily output is 30 cups for both machines.
