Jura C65 vs D6: Differences

The Jura D6 wins 2 – 1 against the Jura C65. This means that even though you will experience great-tasting espresso and user-friendly features on both machines, the Jura D6 has more value in that it’s affordable, has superior P.E.P. technology, and has more customizations than the Jura C65.

1. Espresso Taste

The Winner: Jura D6

Pulse Extraction Process

All Jura espresso machines offer the Intelligent Pre-Brew Aroma System that gradually allows hot water to pass through the coffee grounds to extract more flavour out of the coffee. This is well and true and contributes to the intense and rich espresso taste. The essence of which is present in both the Jura C65 and D6 espresso makers.

However, the Jura D6 goes a step further with the Pulse Extraction Process. This espresso technology simplifies and intensifies the aroma and taste of espresso. So you can expect the espresso to have a more nuanced flavour and stronger aroma once it starts pouring into the cup.

Whether you make plain espressos, cappuccinos, or lattes, the D6 gives you a stronger coffee flavour with a bolder aroma than the C65.

But, having said that, the performance of the Jura C65 and D6 are both great and ideal for coffee lovers.

Adjustable Temperature

Another feature where the Jura D6 is better than the Jura C65 is that the C65 does not have temperature controls. The temperature settings of the C65 are factory-set so you cannot easily make the temperature of the coffee/milk hotter than it is.

Well, of course, how hot you like your drink depends on your personal taste. But having that extra level of adjustment, the way the Jura D6 does can make a lot of difference to a daily coffee drinker.

The D6 features 2 adjustment levels for temperature. On top of that, you can also adjust the coffee strength and volume. The Jura C65 offers coffee strength and volume adjustments.

2. Dose Control

The Winner: Jura C65

By-Pass Doser

The Jura C65 comes with a separate slot for pre-ground coffee which is not present in the D6. The D6 works with coffee beans only with its 200g bean hopper and adjustable conical burr grinder.

The coffee grinder, in both machines, is quiet and fast. But you can make a quick cup of espresso using pre-ground coffee powder in the Jura C65 – which is a convenient option to have in a home espresso machine.

3. Value For Money

The Winner: Jura D6

Jura D6 Value For Money

I’m sure you must have noticed that the cost difference between the Jura C65 vs D6 is that of almost $1,000! The Jura C65 is the more expensive one. With that out of the way, shouldn’t the expensive one be better in terms of performance and design and everything else?

Customer feedback showed that the Jura D6 offers a better value for money than the C65, despite the former’s affordable price tag. It ranks higher in espresso flavour, maintenance, and milk system.

This is when both espresso machines have more features in common than not!

The pros of the D6 are that it’s affordable, heats up quickly, keeps the coffee hot, and its cleanup is fairly simple and quick. The C65 produces rich espresso but some of its parts are plastic and feel flimsy. Mind you, some parts of the D6 are also built of plastic but it feels sturdier than the C65.

The tiny plastic cap on the sensor, for example, the water tank also feels slightly inaccessible, and the coffee grinder tends to get clogged more often. I found no such complaint with the D6; only that it has no by-pass doser and the instruction manual can take some getting used to.

Jura C65 vs D6: Similarities

When you talk about the heating system, bar pump, milk system, hot water, and brewing size, the Jura C65 vs D6 have a lot in common than you think. They share a Thermoblock heating system, Fine Foam frother with siphon system, adjustable cup height, 15 bar high-performance pump, and low-energy modes for long-term safekeeping.

Both machines also boast of a kind of ease of operation that is very helpful for first-time users. The control panel and one-touch brewing functions on both machines are quick and easy to navigate.

The machines will prompt you when they need to be cleaned. This includes descaling notifications and rinsing. You have to rinse the machine before and after use, but the machines do that automatically which hardly sheds a minute off of your time!

Plus, the CLEARYL water filter (present in both machines) save you the trouble of descaling the machine. There is a filter change indicator in case something goes wrong! But rest assured, you don’t have to descale the machine until after you’ve hit the 200 cups mark.
