After many brewing sessions, I have decided the winner between Jura E6 vs Saeco Xelsis: Jura E6.
Jura E6 never fails to deliver a good cup in the morning, thanks to its overall stable and well-rounded espresso extraction. The design allows for convenient refilling, the bean grinder works with minimum noise, and the milk foam quality has been consistently pleasant. I highly recommend this product to any homeowner.
As for Saeco Xelsis, I´m impressed by its tasty espresso and good milk foam quality. The design is compact for small spaces as well. The overall functionality is excellent, but there are minor details that I don´t enjoy, which I will mention with further explanation below.

Jura E6 vs Saeco Xelsis: Differences
Jura E6 wins 3-2 agaisnt Saeco Xelsis thanks to its aromatic and delicious espressos and coffees. The grinder works very smoothly and offers even coffee ground without producing much noise. Also, this model is perfect for daily brewing for 2-3 users. You can check out my verdict now.
Coffee flavor: Jura E6
+Grinder
Jura E6, like any other Jura’s product, uses Aroma G3 grinder, which can be simply understood as a conical burr grinder with 6 result settings. And how does it work?
I find it quite smooth and even in terms of coffee ground texture, which is a typical case among conical burr grinders. I have consistently gotten fresh and even ground without having to experience a loud screeching noise that many grinders produce.
More importantly, from my experience, the conical burr performs very well in the long run for not causing many jams.
As for the grinder of Saeco Xelsis, I’m impressed by the evenness of its result coffee ground. About the noise level, I’m even more impressed. It’s so quiet that even families with sleep training babies can use it.
However, since its grinder is the flat type, it might not perform as well as Jura E6 in the long run, given that flat grinder tends to keep behind more leftover ground and cause jams. Even though I haven’t gone through this problem once with this specific model, I have experienced it before with other espresso machines equipped with a flat grinder.
+Dosing + tamping
Saeco takes more time to dose than Jura E6, which bugs me a little. But, in exchange, Jura E6 requires more manual adjustment for brewing milk recipes. So in this particular aspect (dosing and tamping), the pair ties.
As for Xelsis, it takes 10 to 15s more than E6 to start dispensing espresso. Even though it doesn’t sound much, if you are constantly in a hurry in the morning and need a quick cup, the prolonged dosing may be a slight turnoff.
In the case of Jura E6, it starts extracting espresso about 5-7s in. However, I have to pay attention to the milk dial, which is a simple dial that allows milk to go through the dispenser or not. When I brew a cup that involves milk frothing, the dispensing process requires me to switch the dial to on when the milk needs out and off when it’s the turn of espresso.
+Heating system
Both E6 and Xelsis take around 10-15 minutes to heat up to a good brewing temperature, but if you are in a hurry, after 5 minutes you can start the extraction with no problem. But, you will notice a slight drop in coffee temperature, which is not as refreshing and smooth as leaving the machines to prime themselves for a longer time.
Flavor-wise, both models are designed to extract smooth, nutty, and balanced espressos. To achieve a more robust flavor, I adjust the coffee strength to higher levels and grind finer coffee grounds.
There isn’t much difference in the quality of crema, but I can say that they perform well in this matter. The layers aren’t too thick that make the crema seem like foam, but they 100% give the texture of espressos a heavier and creamier mouthfeel.
Milk System: Tie
Jura E6 and Saeco Xelsis have pros and cons in their milk system. I will tell you why.
Firstly, I ensure that both models are capable of frothing microfoam, and steamed milk isn’t even a problem. So in terms of milk quality, there is nothing to complain about.
But, Saeco Xelsis does a messy job whenever it comes to milk. The system pushes steamed water out first, then comes the steamed or frothed milk. And finally, the machine gives a few more short bursts of water when it finishes with milk. So I don’t enjoy the cleaning afterward.
As for Jura E6, I have to manually turn the milk dial so that the machine can dispense milk into the cup. And later, it’s my job to turn off the dial so that espresso can come out.
For many users, all the cons I cite above aren’t big deal-breakers, and I want to emphasize again that the foam quality is top-notch. So, I highly recommend considering your own necessities when you look at my reviews.
Utilities: Jura E6
I pick Jura E6 since this product line can automatically recognize the Cleryl water filter, which is very convenient for users who aren’t familiar with setting up water filters. All you have to do is pluck this filter in place in the water tank, and it will automatically do the work without needing extra attention. The machine will tell when it’s time to descale/remove the filter and replace it with a new one.
Cleaning & Maintain: Tie
Both models are fairly easy to clean. They have tons of cleaning cycles to keep the system fresh at all times. I like that Xelsis has a cycle called HygieClean, which washes the milk path with high-pressured water. So the taste of milk and espresso is always odorless and pure.
Jura E8 doesn’t even require dissembling the parts. All I have to do is drop a cleaning tablet in its receptacle. Indeed, this model doesn’t have a bypass doser for preground where we usually drop the tablets in. But you don’t have to worry since there is a receptacle for cleaning tablets located on top of the machine.
Design & Material: Tie
Jura E6 is made of Stainless Steel + ABS Plastic, while Saeco Xelsis is made of Titanium and Plastic. These materials guarantee a sturdy yet lightweight feel for the devices.
I like the compact design of Jura E6 and Saeco Xelsis as well. The front water tank of Xelsis, and the side water tank of Jura E6 allows a convenient refill.
Jura E6 vs Saeco Xelsis: Similarities
Let me show you some similarities that Jura E6 and Saeco Xelsis share.
Water tank capacity
The exact level is not the same, but both can hold around 61oz of water with their tank. With Saeco Xelsis, we get front water tank. With Jura E6, we get side water tank. For me, the side water tank is a plus since it’s easier to access to.
Fairly quiet operation
As I have mentioned in the grinder part, the pair doesn’t make much noise when it grinds. And in the extraction process, they are even more silent. If where you live has noise restriction rules, you can count on these models to not give you trouble.
