Between the Jura Giga 6 vs Z8, Giga 6 is the kind of machine you can use at home or in an office space. It has two thermoblocks, two ceramic grinders, and two bean hoppers with a large water tank. So it’s suitable for large families and groups.
Compare to the entry-level performance of the Jura Z8, the Giga 6 comes out as the most versatile and multi-functional machine. But it is also more expensive.
The Jura Z8 has over 20 coffee specialties, intricate coffee programmability, and fast and efficient control over the complete brewing and frothing process. This is why Jura Z8 is also a fine choice for beginners and coffee lovers.
So if you’re confused between the Giga 6 and Jura Z8 – know that the Giga 6 is the more upgraded version of the Jura Z8. Both may offer the same programmability and milk frothing but the Giga 6 is built for entertaining larger groups with its dual ceramic disc grinder.

Jura Giga 6 vs Z8: Differences
The Jura Giga 6 comes out at the top as the winner (3 – 1) against the Jura Z8. It is a commercial-grade espresso maker designed to suit the needs of a home brewer. It’s twice as fast, precise, and has a durable construction to back it up.
1. Taste of Espresso
The Winner: It’s A Tie!
+Coffee Grinder
It’s a tie between the coffee grinders of Giga 6 and Jura Z8. The reason is not only their performance value but the feedback both machines have received from loyal customers.
The difference is between ceramic disc and steel conical grinders. The Giga 6 comes with 2 adjustable grinders made of ceramic material and disc-shaped. This is the traditional setup for coffee grinders. And they are often found in commercial-grade machines as they are able to withstand intense use.
Home espresso machines, on the other hand, generally used steel conical burr grinders. This is for the simple reason that they are more affordable and fast. Steel conical burr grinders deliver faster-grinding speeds without losing touch with what an espresso purist needs – rich, aromatic, and well-textured espresso shots.
Combined with PEP, steel conical grinders can truly elevate your experience of espresso at home. So you don’t feel the need to pay an exorbitant price for ceramic when a burr grinder gets the job done effectively.
But if you don’t mind paying extra, a ceramic disc grinder is professional, durable, and efficient. It’s easy to clean and most importantly with Giga 6’s dual grinders, it’s perfect for entertaining. While a steel conical burr grinder will need some rest time between cups.
And with the Aroma G3 grinder of the Jura Z8, you can expect faster and quieter performance with more precise aroma extraction.
2. Dose Control
The Winner: Jura Giga 6
+Coffee Specialties
The Jura Giga 6 includes 28 drinks and the Jura Z8 includes 21 drinks. The Giga 6 also comes with AI technology that determines the best possible espresso drink for you based on your selections. There is no such intelligent technology on the Jura Z8 that chooses your espresso drink for you.
Both machines come with espresso and coffee options with and without milk. They also share the same levels of coffee strength settings (10), brewing temperature (3 levels) and milk temperature settings (10 levels). So you can never run out of a new espresso drink to have every day.
Just that with the Giga 6, you can select from 7 more espresso drinks.
3. Cleaning & Maintenance
The Winner: Jura Giga 6
Because the Giga 6 has everything in double, the bean hopper, coffee grinder, coffee spout, it also includes 2 CLEARYL water filters for keeping the machine clean and tidy. The Jura Z8 comes with a single CLEARYL water filter. But considering the size of the water tank, the single CLEARYL should suffice.
As I’ve already mentioned before, everything about the Giga 6 screams commercial-grade performance. So it’s built for entertaining tens of espresso drinks per day. That is why the 2 CLEARYL water filters ensure that the internal water pipes are staying rugged and clog-free.
This benefit has nothing against the Jura Z8. But if you’re looking for more, because when is 1 better than 2, right? Then your go-to option should be the Jura Giga 6.
+Capacity
There is something intriguing about using the Giga 6 in that it features a larger water tank with dual grinders. It’s better than the Z8 in that it prioritizes speed as well as precision when brewing espresso on day-to-day.
Giga 6 comes with an 87-ounce reservoir and dual bean hoppers of 277 grams each. This means you store twice as many coffee beans in the bean hopper as the Z8 which stores only 280 grams of beans in a single hopper. The Z8’s water tank capacity is 81 ounces which are 6 ounces less.
Both espresso machines come with the same coffee pucks container that holds on to used ground coffee after brewing – up to 20 servings.
This, considering that both machines have the same dimensions (9.1 x 9.1 x 9.1 inches) is very impressive. I would also like to note that the Giga 6 looks more attractive and barista-like with its bean hoppers outside the machine, on the top. While the Z8 comes with a built-in chamber for coffee beans that don’t stick out from the top like the Giga 6.
Jura Giga 6 vs Z8: Similarities
As for the similarities, both the Jura Giga 6 vs Z8 have plenty more features in common than they don’t.
1. Pre-Infusion + By-Pass Doser
Both machines are proud in that they come with pre-infusion technology along with PEP and Thermoblock. And they also offer the additional advantage of using pre-ground coffee with the by-pass doser.
It is from this slot that you can also add the Jura cleaning tablet for a quick but effective automatic rinse of all the important internal tubes and brewing units. This also helps in keeping the automatic milk system clean and longer-lasting.
The Pre-Infusion system ensures a full-bodied extraction of coffee by allowing the freshly ground coffee to seep in hot water for a slightly longer time. This ensures that both the aroma and texture of the espresso is balanced so that your every cup tastes delicious.
Since we’re on the subject of espresso, you can also alter the strength of the coffee (and its temperature) by 10 levels and 3 levels respectively.
2. Temperature Control
Under this, both machines have dual thermoblock heating systems that maintain and regulate a consistent and efficient heating system for both brewing and milk frothing. One thermoblock boiler is handles the espresso extraction while the other takes care of the milk frothing mechanism.
This ensures that all your espresso shots are hot and all the textured milk is even hotter, as it should be. You can also rely on the versatile temperature settings on both machines to control the brewing temperature and milk temperature.
You can adjust the temperature of the milk with the help of its 10 pre-sets. And control the brewing temperature by 3 pre-programmed levels.
With the help of their touchscreen display, it’s easier to control the temperature of coffee and milk as opposed to standard TFT display screens in many super-automatic espresso makers.
3. Dual Coffee Spout
This brings me to the dual coffee spout which offers you to make two espressos at the same time. The dual coffee spouts are also adjustable allowing to adjust the height of the spout up to 6 inches so you can slide in taller mugs easily.
4. Control Panel
Coming to one of the most important features in any espresso machine – the display. Both machines come with a large, 4.3-inch touchscreen display. The entire space is made up of the touchscreen so there aren’t any buttons that take up any space on the machine. The display is programmed with various colourful coffee icons. So you know exactly what you’re drinking. Even the customization bars and sliders are well-designed to improve accessibility.
The interface also comprises various cleaning and maintenance indicators for your convenience. You can also set up the auto shut timer on both machines.
